Scientific name: Idaea contiguaria britanniae

July – early August. In Britain a very local species known only from north-west Wales. Small pale grey moth with dark cross-lines. Frequents moorland areas, often with rocky outcrops.

Probably Heathers. Other moorland plants may also be used but this requires confirmation.

Distribution

  • Countries – Wales
  • Only found in north-western Wales, and even here it is very local. Most often recorded in Caernarvonshire. There are additional records from Merionethshire and a single record from Montgomeryshire.

Habitat

Mountains and moorlands, often with rocky outcrops.
