Moth Auction

Butterfly Conservation will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018. To mark this occasion, an Atlas of Britain and Ireland’s Larger Moths is being produced and published. This is the first ever complete atlas of Britain and Ireland's larger moths and will provide up-to-date distribution maps and species accounts of almost 900 species.

To help raise funds for the production and publication of the Atlas, moth species are available for exclusive sponsorship via an online auction websiteIn order to make all of the moths that will feature in the Atlas available for sponsorship, the auction will run in six randomly allocated batches.

The date each batch will be open for bids is listed below. If you would like to sponsor a species and have your name or dedication printed in the Atlas within the species account, please view the current auction and bid on the moth you would like:

Batch 1                 1 May 2017 - 31 May 2017

Batch 2                 1 Jun 2017 - 30 Jun 2017

Batch 3                 1 Jul 2017 - 31 Jul 2017

Batch 4                 1 Aug 2017 - 31 Aug 2017

Batch 5                 1 Sep 2017 - 30 Sep 2017

Batch 6                 1 Oct 2017 - 31 Oct 2017

Auctions will run from 8am on the first day of the month, until 8pm on the last day of the month. Any un-sponsored moths will be re-listed in November and December 2017.

If you are interested in reserving a particular moth ahead of its auction date, please contact enquiries@butterfly-conservation.org to discuss. Unfortunately it will not be possible to reserve a moth once the auction for its batch has started but you can contact us to sponsor a moth that is still available after its auction has ended.

Moths will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.
