Sussex: In search of the Lady of the Woods amongst the bluebells

Join the Sussex Branch in search of the Lady of the Woods, better known as the Orange-tip butterfly.

We also hope to see Speckled Wood, Green-veined White and, if we are lucky, Green Hairstreak butterflies.

Location: Blunts Wood & Paiges Meadow Local Nature reserve (LNR)

  • All welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Distance: 3.25km (2 mile) walk
  • Moderate slopes and steep steps, so unsuitable for wheelchair access
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing should be worn, as the nature reserve paths can be very muddy at this time of year

Meet at 10.30am in the Blunts Wood Crescent free car park, located between Haywards Heath and Cuckfield, approximately 15 minutes walk from Haywards Heath railway station, Grid ref:  TQ317246, nearest postcode: RH16 1NE (See link to map on Natural England website )
