Highlands Fannich Glen
Lay-by at church NH316626 one mile west of Lochluichart. On A835 Garve – Achnasheen road

Organiser: BC Highland Branch

Target Species: Argent & Sable Date:

Time: 10 am

Meeting place: Lay-by at church NH316626 one mile west of Lochluichart. On A835 Garve – Achnasheen road. Share cars for drive up surfaced private road for four miles.

Description: Lochluichart Estate have kindly given us permission to drive up the road to Loch Fannich where in the past few years several species of butterfly have been recorded. It is also an excellent area for day-flying moths, most notably Argent & Sable which in a good year can be seen in quite large numbers.

Approx duration: If it’s a good day, 4 to 5 hours.

What’s needed: Lunch, waterproofs and suitable footwear (mainly on tracks). Any other information: Depending on the weather we propose to do a circular walk of approx 3-4 miles, though there is plenty of interesting habitat for anyone not wanting to walk too far.
