The Wildflower Identification Course runs from 10.00 to 4.00 and the tutor is Dominic Price of the Species Recovery Trust. There should be a good range of plants in flower to get a grip of basic plant identification. The course fee if £30 for the day, including morning and afternoon refreshments. Earlier, at 9.00 the day begins with inspection of the moth traps with the previous night's catch on the reserve, followed by refreshments at 10.30. From 11.00 to 1.00 approx, there will be guided walks to see wildflowers and butterflies including Purple and Brown Hairstreak. Afterwards, feel free to stay and have your own picnic lunch on the reserve.
Alners Gorse reserve entrance is on the road from Kings Stag to Hazelbury Bryan beside the Hazelbury Bryan village sign and 30mph sign. Park on the wide, straight road verge on the Kings Stag side of the village sign, well away from the dangerous bend. The map reference is ST 736 100.
