Description:  This is a really lovely wood with a variety of differing habitats, ponds, mixed woodland and large open areas. As such it lends itself to a selection of wildlife, a range of butterflies, moths and dragonflies have been recorded here.

Meeting place:  Large Forestry Commission car park approx. 2 miles SW of Tain Bypass on the minor road from Tain to Scotsburn. Grid NH757791.

 Approx duration:                  Approx., 4 hours depending on weather.

What’s needed:                     Good footwear, lunch, waterproofs.

Any other information:        Mostly walking along an unsurfaced track.
