The Herts and Middlesex Branch have been invited to join the Beds and Northants Branch on a field trip to see Chalk Hill Blue and other summer butterflies. Sharpenhoe is one of the best sites in south Bedfordshire for this species - they can be seen in hundreds in the Moleskin section. This event takes place during Big Butterfly Count.

Join the Somerset and Bristol Branch on a walk at this ancient lead-working site now owned by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. It holds both Small and Essex Skipper, Common Blue, Dark Green Fritillary, Marbled White, Meadow Brown, Small Heath and Ringlet butterflies. This event takes place during Big Butterfly Count.

Join the Somerset and Bristol Branch on this woodland and limestone grassland site, which has a very good range of species and is especially important for its population of Chalk Hill Blue butterflies. Other species of butterflies likely to be flying include Brown Argus, Common Blue, Silver-washed Fritillary, Gatekeeper and Meadow Brown. This event takes place during Big Butterfly Count.

Join the Dorset Branch in exploring two of Portland's quarries, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The target species of butterflies will be the Silver-studded Blue, Chalkhill Blue, Lulworth Skipper and the cretaceous form of Grayling. This event takes place during Big Butterfly Count.
