Highlands And Islands: Lochaber Butterflies

The event will focus on different techniques for recording and monitoring butterflies including timed counts and transects. It will also include an introduction to the butterflies of Lochaber covering all 22 species recorded in the area but paying particular attention on the scarce Chequered Skipper and Pearl-bordered Fritillary. After an indoor presentation an afternoon field trip in Glen Nevis will look for spring butterflies and day-flying moths. It is hoped that participants will be keen to record and help monitor butterflies in Glen Nevis and elsewhere in the local area over the rest of the summer.
