Painted Ladies are arriving

Dorset is a very good county for butterflies, having a variety of habitats, as well as being on the South coast, and so likely to see butterflies which migrate in from southern Europe.

So far in 2013 we have had 27 species recorded on our website, the latest of which is the Painted Lady - a migrant. Having had none until 14 June, we've now had four reported, from Bridport in the West of the county, to Poole in the East, and in Purbeck and Wimborne.
