We intend the Lincolnshire Gallery to feature an aspect of Lincolnshire's butterflies or moths using photos taken within the County by our Members. Our Branch Committee felt that it would be good this time to feature photos of some of the late season moths. There are some lovely images here and we hope you enjoy this 'Latest Gallery' (If you click on any of the images, you'll see them much larger, and then scroll through the whole Gallery using the arrows at the bottom.)
It includes photos of a number of the pretty Sallows and the ever popular Merveille du Jour. On 4th October this year, the fourth County sighting of the rare Pale-lemon Sallow was recorded by Chris Dobson at Langworth. It is included in this Gallery. The Sallows are followed by some of the other attractive moths associated with Autumn: the well-camouflaged Green-brindled Crescent, the stunning Frosted Orange, a superb photo of a Large Wainscot with beautiful light colours to match, the two sightings this Autumn of the uncommon Golden Plusia, the Sprawler and others. To test you, there are two photos with several different Sallows in each. Can you identify them? We hope you really enjoy this latest (seventh) Gallery. Many thanks to all who have contributed their excellent photos.
