Easter Drumclair is a small bog nestled within Limerigg Wood to the east of Cumbernauld and is owned by Forestry Commission Scotland. The site is easily accessed from Limerigg via forestry tacks.
Following on from our work at the site last year we will be continuing to remove spruce and pine from across the open bog, as these would otherwise sap water from the peatland. For this work we will be using loppers and bow saws. Weather permitting we shall also be carrying out butterfly surveys and examining moths caught overnight in our light trap.
The work suits all abilities, but you need a steady footing as we will be working on and walking across challenging, uneven and boggy terrain.
Start: 9.00am meet at our Stirling Office (We offer some transport and pick-ups can potentially be arranged at other locations, please get in touch for details).
Finish: 15.00 at Easter Drumclair or about 16.00 at our Stirling Office.
Bring: Water, lunch (hot drink?), wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring warm hat, fleece etc..and a sense of humour!
