Looking For The Pearl-bordered Fritillary
Sunday 19th May 2013 - 2pm - 5pm
Ardvonie Public Car Park, Kingussie

Field Trip Organiser: Butterfly Conservation Scotland and Cairngorms Nature

Meeting place: Ardvonie Public Car Park, Kingussie which is in the centre of the village behind the Duke of Gordon Hotel. Grid reference NH755007.

The event will focus on the Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly, its identification and haunts. It will include a visit to a nearby site to look for the butterfly and for participants to become acquainted with its habitat requirements.

The butterfly is a priority species for Butterfly Conservation Scotland and in the Cairngorms Nature’s new Action Plan. It is hoped that participants will use the knowledge acquired on the day to look for Pearl-bordered Fritillary at suitable sites over the subsequent weeks to help determine its status in the National Park.

The event is free, no previous knowledge is required.

Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. In inclement weather we will retire to a nearby indoor venue.

Approx duration: 2-3 hours What’s needed: Good weather, stout walking shoes, binoculars and a sense of humour!

Any other information: Please contact Tom for more information. The event is being run in partnership with Cairngorms Nature.
