Urban spaces can be surprisingly good homes for butterflies, with some species even being more common in towns than they are in the wider countryside. Join us on this free training workshop in Glasgow to find out how to identify and record these beautiful butterflies which are on your doorstep.

The aim of this event is to give all attendees the basic skills they need to be able to identify and record the butterflies they are likely to see. The records may then be used to inform and direct conservation work in Glasgow.

The workshop will be both indoor- and outdoor-based. Weather permitting, we will have a few interactive learning presentations and activities in the morning, before going for a walk in the afternoon to spot some springtime butterflies. **We will be taking a minibus to Hurlethill where there is good habitat for a range of species.

This event is suitable for all, but children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult. The walk outdoors will mostly be on paths, and outdoor clothing and shoes should be worn. Refreshments will be provided through the day, but please bring a packed lunch.

Location: Glasgow Museums Resource Centre, 200 Woodhead Road, South Nitshill Industrial Estate, Glasgow G53 7NN Scotland
Times: 10:00am - 3:00pm Saturday 5th May
