Join us on a Training event to the Aston Rowant NNR. The aim is to help participants to accurately identify butterfly and day-flying moth species, and distinguish them from confusion species. This will prepare you to successfully carry out future surveys, transects or monitoring. This fabulous reserve lies on the Chiltern scarp, and its chalk downland supports a rich fora and fauna.
New Members are particularly welcomed to join this walk.
We will hike some 4 kilometres across the steep Chiltern slopes. Target: confidence in accurate separation of common species from scarce species, not a long species list.
Accessibility - sloping, uneven, steep, and scattered with stumps and trip hazards. Slippery after rain.
Meet at the the south end of Forestry England's Cowleaze Wood car park, Christmas Common Road. Please note: There may be FE works at this car park. Please check here before attending, in case of a last minute change to parking arrangements.
