Learn to illustrate a Chequered Skipper butterfly step-by-step, with professional illustrator Lizzie Harper.

Roots of Rockingham are excited to bring you an amazing illustration workshop with the renowned Natural History Illustrator, Lizzie Harper. Join Lizzie live to begin painting your own Chequered Skipper in real-time.

This is an amazing opportunity to see how the professionals produce those stunning, lifelike illustrations. By the end of the 90minute session you will have had the opportunity to paint a section of a Chequered Skipper wing utilising the range of brush stroke techniques required to complete a full butterfly illustration (which can take hours).

Prior to the event you will receive a kit list, a template preparation guide, a reference image and a ready-prepared template to enable you to focus specifically on practicing the painting techniques that Lizzie will guide you through without first having to produce your own line drawing on the day.

This free event has been brought to you by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and People's Postcode Lottery as part of the Roots of Rockingham Back from the Brink Project, re-introducing the formerly extinct Chequered Skipper butterfly back into the woods of the Rockingham Forest.

There is an option to make a donation to the Beds & Northants Butterfly Conservation Branch to support the future work of volunteers conserving butterflies in the Rockingham Forest.

A Zoom link will be made available to registered participants before the event.
