The Bog Squad will be joining forces with the Portmoak Community Woodland group to clear birch and conifer seedlings at Portmoak Moss in order to protect it's valuable peatland habitat. Invasive scrub, if left to grow will take vital water resources away from the bog which threatens the specialised flora and fauna that live there. We’ll be using tools such as tree poppers, saws and mini mattocks to remove the scrub.

The work suits all abilities, but you need a steady footing as we will be working and walking across challenging, uneven and boggy terrain.

Start: 10am at Portmoak Moss (We'll give you directions and information).

Finish: 3pm

Please bring: Water/hot drink, lunch, wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring warm hat, fleece etc..and a sense of humour!

Booking essential: Please book your space by visiting here and completing the booking form. Joining instructions will be sent to everyone who registers closer to the date.

Please contact Polly Phillpot on [email protected] if you have any queries.

This work is kindly supported by the Peatland ACTION Fund
