Come join us for a short walk from the Kinshaldy car park (NO498242) northwards along the costal path to the Tentsmuir Point NNR. There are two target species for this walk: Green Hairstreak butterfly and Emperor moth. Green Hairstreak is a species that has declined significantly at Tentsmuir over recent years, so will target potential new sites and focus earlier in the year. We will be using pheromone lures to attract male Emperor moths to come to us.

We will gather at 10:00 in the Kinshaldy car park, and begin by opening and viewing moth traps that ran overnight in the area. The Butterfly walk will start at 11:00 until 2:00 pm.

This event is an easy but moderate walk (3.5 km) over terrain that is even and relatively dry; dogs are permissible only if kept under control on a lead.

Spaces are not limited but please contact events coordinator if you intend joining us.
