Target species High Brown, Dark Green, and possibly late Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries, Common Blue, Grayling
An opportunity to learn about the management that’s done to protect these species. A walk of around 6km over difficult terrain.
Directions From M6 junction 36, take A65 then A6070 to Burton in Kendal. Turn left at the southern end of the town (Dalton Lane) and follow this road uphill for about 2km and turn left signed Hutton. Park on roadside when you enter Low House (buildings) at footpath sign marked Park Wood, south of Hutton Roof Village satnav LA6 2QL grid ref SD570780

Wise Words For all outdoor events participants should bring suitable outdoor clothing, waterproofs and boots or similar. Bring a packed lunch for whole day events, and sun cream and plenty of water in hot weather. General safety advice will be given before all our events but we ask all who attend to take personal responsibility for their own safety and possessions and to pay special regard to trip hazards and the likely presence of ticks. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome on our daytime events unless shown otherwise.
