Hampsfield Allotment Lindale

Includes locations on Bishop’s and Hampsfell Allotments and, visits to the newt pond and recently seeded wild flower meadows, so expect a wide variety of habitats and species. The going is fairly long and arduous, and so the day will divide at lunch time back at the farm, giving the option of just doing a half session.

Targeted species: High Brown and Dark Green Fritillaries

We will meet at High Hampsfield Farm, grid ref SD405804 satnav LA11 6BG.

Parking is limited, and ride sharing is desirable for the final leg—see below.

EITHER 1: Approach from Lindale mini roundabout (Audi Dealer)—take B5271 north up Lindale hill, PAST (left) Windermere Road junction and turn next left at the wooden bench seat onto Hollow Lane SD 412808, almost opposite the bypass exit slip road on the right, and BEFORE reaching the Lindale bypass. Follow narrow lane and turn left at signpost/no through road to Hampsfield

Or 2: Approach from Cartmel Lane SD 401813, turning at the opposite end of Hollow Lane. In this case, turn right at the Hampsfield/no through road sign.

Then, in both cases, follow the narrow lane past the first house, then there is a right turn into High Hampsfield Farm driveway SD 404803 (selling various meats off the farm). We have consent to park at the farm.

To ride share, Park on verge of Green Lane (Cartmel to High Newton road)  between Broughton Lodge and Hampsfield Hall.  Grid ref SD391805, satnav LA11 6HL and car share as above to High Hampsfield Farm.
