Sun 2nd February: Little Breach Reserve near Culmstock 10.30 - 14.30.
Meet at the end of the lane leading to Purchas Farm ST 109 154. If you plan to attend this work party, I would be very happy to email a copy of the 1.5 MB plan of the route to you, rather than write a lengthy description here. Raking up cut bracken, general cutting back of vegetation and uprooting Cotoneaster plants, young birches and sallow bushes. Rakes, forks, bowsaws and mattocks would be the most useful tools.
For winter events bring lunch, a drink, waterproof clothing, stout footwear/boots and gardening gloves. Bring recommended tools if possible though some are usually available on the day. If severe weather is forecast, check with the leader before travelling as an event could be cancelled.
You are advised to check the online Events pages which will be updated if there are changes to any of the events, or any cancellations.
We are advised that it is important that all volunteers should register with Assemble (Butterfly Conservation’s new online volunteer portal) since this will allow BC to hold your details securely and also means that registered volunteers, be they members or non-members, will be covered by BC’s comprehensive insurance. Full details of Assemble can be found on the BC web site at Assemble - Our New Volunteer Portal | Butterfly Conservation (butterfly-conservation.org).
Any queries about Assemble should be addressed to [email protected] and NOT the work party leader thank you.
