Sat 24th February: Lydford Old Railway Reserve 10.30 - 14.30.

Meet in the National Trust’s Waterfall car park at SX 500 832, which is located roughly a mile southwest of the main Lydford Gorge entrance. Getting to the site is a half-mile, mostly level, walk to get to the site.

Work will include essential winter clearance work of the site for the heath fritillary and other butterflies. The main task will be raking up following the use of a brushcutter, but also some coppicing of trees and scrub. Rakes and pitchforks will be available but you are welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer – small saws and loppers will also be useful for the coppicing work.

ADVANCED BOOKING NECESSARY FOR ALL EVENTS - please contact the organiser Colin Sargent on 07980 372909

You are advised to check the online Events pages which will be updated if there are changes to any of the events, or any cancellations.

For winter events bring lunch, a drink, waterproof clothing, stout footwear/boots and gardening gloves. Bring recommended tools if possible though some are usually available on the day. If severe weather is forecast, check with the leader before travelling as an event could be cancelled.
