Please join us for a day of conservation action and help us open up more habitat for important fritillary butterflies. This will be the third time we have teamed up with Devon Wildlife Trust on this site and our management work seems to be working with butterflies responding well to the changes this summer.
We will be cutting encroaching gorse, brambles, and buckthorn saplings to encourage the growth of violets; the food plant of many fritillary butterflies including the High Brown Fritillary. Please wear sturdy ankle-supporting boots, and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty as we hope to have a bonfire. Biscuits will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch if you plan on staying all day.
We will be meeting in the Newbridge Car Park where we will car share or walk to site. For more information or to express your interest in attending please contact Megan on the details provided.
This is a joint event with Devon Wildlife Trust and the Heritage Funded All the Moor Butterflies project.
