Cerne Abbas, Dorchester, Dorset
The Somerset and Bristol Branch are joining the Dorset Branch for an exploration of this rich chalk downland, seeking a variety of late spring and early summer butterflies.
There are widespread colonies of Duke of Burgundy and Marsh Fritillary – as well as Green Hairstreak, Common Blue, Dingy and Grizzled Skippers to be seen. Please be aware of occasional steeper slopes, and do bring a packed lunch for an extended walk into the afternoon.
Meet at 11.00 am in the picnic area car park opposite the Village hall. Map reference ST 663 015.
