Are you a secret Miss Marple or Columbo? If so, come and help us find the elusive Grayling Caterpillar - the rarest of the Sussex Butterflies!

We will be looking for caterpillars at Deep Dean, specifically Grayling caterpillars. These caterpillars crawl to the top of grass stems after dark, so our job is to identify as many as possible. We will be hunting late into the night, but you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish.

Date of event: Fri 20th May - the event WILL be going ahead despite the weather - so if you are planning to join, please wrap up warm and wear suitable clothing.

Time: meet at bumpy Car park at 8pm (TQ 5318 0324) and then we will walk up to the top of the hill along the chalky path (South Downs Way) and then rough grass/steep slopes (approx 20mins from car park). The terrain is a little challenging - particularly in the dark.

Bring torches & stout footwear and wrap up warm. Not suitable for dogs. Suitable for children aged 12 and over.
Hope to see as many of you as possible. All extra pairs of eyes are very welcome, no experience needed!
