Meeting place: Moray Waste Busters Car Park near Forres. NJ026597 consults.desk.posed
Description: Have a walk south along the Findhorn to an area where woodland was cleared about 10 years ago as part of the Forres flood defences allowing the growth of Kidney Vetch, the larval foodplant of Small Blue, and Common Bird’s-foot Trefoil, the larval foodplant of Dingy Skipper. Both species have been seen at the site.
Approx duration: 3-4 hours but see below.
What’s needed: Packed lunch, midge repellent, waterproofs, suncream, stout footwear aspart of the walk is along an old channel of the river which is stony.
Any other information: Depending on the weather and enthusiasm, we could also explore the path north from the car park. The car park closes sharp at 4pm so we need to be back at the cars to ensure we aren’t locked in.
