Join the Highlands Branch to take a look through moth traps run the previous night and then, if the weather is good, go for a butterfly walk!
Meeting place: RSPB Insh Marshes car park. 2 miles out of Kingussie on the B970 (past Ruthven Barracks). NN775998 (OS map 35 – Kingussie) Nearest post code: PH21 1NS.
Kingussie station is a 1.5 mile (2.4 km) walk away.
The nearest bus stop is in Kingussie, a 1.5 mile (2.4 km) walk away.
This reserve is on Route 7 of the National Cycle Network.
From A9, take exit to Kingussie. Follow B970 south from village towards, and then beyond, Ruthven Barracks. Reserve entrance is 1 km to the east of the barracks.
Approx duration: Up to 6 hours, depending on how many moths there are and if the weather is good enough for a butterfly walk!
What’s needed: Midge repellent and a packed lunch. Stout footwear if walking the trail which is uneven.
