Sunday 26th June 2022, 12:00pm-1:30pm
Knowlands Wood, Barcombe
- Bee Lewis
FULLY BOOKED - please do not turn up if you have not booked a place
Please check the website prior to the event for the latest Covid-19 guidance. If you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the 7 days prior to the event, or you have symptoms, please do not attend.
For some 40 years, Nick has looked after Knowlands Wood - an ancient coppiced broadleaved woodland with wide rides. Our target species will be White Admiral, Silver-Washed Fritillary, and the Purple Hairstreak among others. We may even be very lucky and and see the Valesina Form SWF, which although very rare, has been seen in East Sussex.
The terrain is mostly flat with some uneven ground, so please wear sturdy shoes and comfortable clothes for walking. The distance is approximately one mile. Dogs will not be allowed at this event, but children are very welcome. You will also be very welcome to bring a packed lunch and to stay after the event for lunch around the campfire.
Please also remember to bring plenty of water and your camera/binoculars as there will be the opportunity to take photographs.
To get to Knowlands Farm, turn left off Spithurst Rd, about half a mile north of Barcombe Cross (200 yards north of the turning to the Anchor). There are wooden signs on the road. There is parking 300 yards down the farm track, in the field on the right just before the pond. The grid reference for the parking is: TQ 42134 16870
The event is weather dependent, so please check the website prior to travelling.
