Salcey Forest Conservation Work Parties run on the 3rd Sunday of every month, from September 2018 onwards.

Salcey Forest is a fragment of a former medieval hunting forest east of the village of Hartwell, between Northampton and Newport Pagnell in Northamptonshire.

A brand new volunteer group has been set up to improve habitats for butterflies and moths in the area - can you help? The sessions will run between 10am – 1pm, but you can stay for as little or as long as you like. Tools and refreshments will be provided!

Please wear stout footwear and suitable clothing for the weather. Refreshments (provided) for tea/coffee break during the session.

Everyone is to meet at the ‘horsebox’ car park on Midshires Way. Map Grid ref. SP810508 (Nearest post code: NN7 2HA).

Aimed at both the complete beginner and more experienced conservationists alike, we would love for you to join us for some woodland ride management in Salcey Forest.

We would like to maintain and make the habitat more suitable for woodland butterflies, including the Wood White and Black Hairstreak.

We will be removing and reducing some of the small scrub and trees alongside the paths with hand tools (bowsaws and loppers), to reduce shading and encourage more nectar and caterpillar food plant species.

You are welcome to come along for as much or as little of this time as suits you, but please let us know if you are coming so that we can bring enough tools and contact you if plans change.

Work is with hand tools only, which will be provided.

Please let us know if you would like to join us by contacting the Woodland Wings Project Officer: Caz Temple: 07483 039 326, @email
