Search for some of the special butterflies and moths of the Cairngorms, a stronghold area for a number of nationally rare species. Depending on weather and seasonal variation, these could include Pearl-bordered Fritillary and Kentish Glory, which have particular habitat requirements. Learn how to identify them and find out about surveys you can get involved with to contribute to their conservation.

The event involves a walk of up to about 10.5km/6.5 miles, mostly on level paths with smooth surface, but with some short gentle-moderate inclines and uneven ground. Bring outdoor clothing suited to weather, long trousers, stout footwear, packed lunch & if you have them, binoculars. Suitable for adults & young people (12+). Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
