The Bog Squad will be clearing rhododendrons at Moss of Achnacree in order to protect it's valuable peatland habitat and it's population of Endangered Large Heath butterfly. Invasive rhododendron, if left to grow, will take vital water resources away from the bog which threatens the specialised flora and fauna that live there. We’ll be using hand tools to remove the scrub.
The work suits all abilities, but you will need a steady footing as we will be working and walking across challenging, uneven and boggy terrain.
Start: 10am (We'll give you directions on where to meet and information about the day).
Finish: 3pm
Please bring: Water, lunch, wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and old warm, work clothes - including full waterproofs.
Contact: Booking is essential. Contact [email protected] so we can send you the joining instructions.
This work party is kindly supported by Peatland Action.
