Saturday 6th July – Ditch-blocking at Brownsburn Community Nature Park (Airdrie)

The Bog Squad will be working to block-up old drainage ditches at Brownsburn Community Nature Park in Airdrie. These old drainage ditches continue to remove water from the moss, drying the peat out and threatening the highly specialised vegetation and wildlife that should thrive out on the moss. We will block ditches with plastic piling which is installed using a large rubber mallet.

The work suits all abilities, but you need a steady footing as we will be working on and walking across challenging, uneven and boggy terrain.

Start: 10am at Brownsburn Community Nature Park (We'll give you directions) or 9.00am meet at our Stirling Office (We offer some transport)
Finish: 3pm at Brownsburn Community Nature Park or 4.00pm at our Stirling Office

Bring: Water, lunch (hot drink?), wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring warm hat, fleece etc..and a sense of humour!

Please let us know you're coming by contacting David Hill on: [email protected] or 01786 459813
