The Bog Squad will be working to control birch woodland encroachment into areas used by the regionally rare Silvery Arches moth at Easter Inch Moss, West Lothian.

Easter Inch Moss

Silvery Arches caterpillars use areas of small birch to feed, but as the birch grows and matures the habitat loses its suitability. We will be selectively managing the birch to maintain and increase the area of suitable habitat.

The work suits all abilities, but you need a steady footing as we will be working on and walking across challenging uneven and boggy terrain.

Start: 10am at Easter Inch Moss, Blackburn, West Lothian (We will give you directions)
Finish: 3pm

Bring: Water/ hot drink, lunch, wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring warm hat, fleece etc. and a sense of humour!

Booking is essential by contacting Polly Phillpot at pphillpot@butterfly-conservation.org

This work is kindly supported by the Peatland Action Fund
