The Bog Squad will be clearing pine and birch scrub in order to protect it's valuable peatland habitat.
Invasive scrub if left to grow will take vital water resources away from the bog which threatens the specialised flora and fauna that live there such as the Large Heath butterfly. We’ll be using tools such as loppers, saws and mini mattocks to remove the scrub.
Wester Moss SSSI is a small lowland bog located by the village of Fallin near Stirling.
Start: 10am at Wester Moss (We'll give you directions and information)
Finish: 3pm
Please bring: Water/hot drink, lunch, wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring a warm hat, fleece etc..and a sense of humour!
