Join us for our autumn gathering of Butterfly Conservation supporters in Scotland!
Location: AK Bell Library, Perth
Date & time: Saturday 7th October 2023, 10am - 4.40pm.
Booking: This event will be held in-person and streamed live over Zoom. There is a £15 cost to attend the in-person event, and the cost includes a hot lunch.
In-person event: We are using eventbrite to manage our event bookings. Unfortunately the 'donation' option we have chosen only allows one ticket per booking. So if you require multiple tickets, please make more than one booking and complete the information for the extra attendee(s) below the billing section. We are requesting a donation of £15 for this event to cover the catering costs. We are using the 'donation' option as the fees are much lower than the 'paid ticket' option, so we hope you understand. Click here to visit the booking page for the in-person event
Zoom event: If you would like to watch the event live over Zoom, please visit here to register for the online event (please only register for the Zoom event if you are not attending in person, as registrations to the Zoom event are limited to 100).
This event will be a chance to hear about our work in Scotland and opportunities for you to get involved. Speakers and topics include: attracting and trapping more garden moths from Nigel Voaden; updates on our work on the rarest butterflies and moths from BC staff David Hill and Tracy Munro; rewilding the workplace by Ashleigh Whiffin from the National Museums Collection Centre; roundup of notable butterflies and moth sightings in 2023 from Dr Tom Prescott; and moths and their parasites by Katty Baird and Stuart Bence. We will also have live moths to display at lunchtime, from traps all over Scotland!
At lunchtime we hope to have some live moths from moth traps, and a demonstration of moth trapping methods. The £15 cost of booking will include a hot lunch, tea and coffee on arrival and in the afternoon.
Parking and transport: more detailed information on transport and parking will be sent before the event. More information about parking in Perth can be found here, with options such as the South Inch Car Park being 10 minutes walk from the venue and costing about £5.30 for the day. Perth train station is also about a 10-minute walk away.
This event is being kindly supported by funding from NatureScot and by the three Butterfly Conservation Branches in Scotland.
