Each year, we have a range of guided walks across Somerset & Bristol to enable Butterfly Conservation members to see a wide variety of butterflies

The 2024 walks will run between June & September and have been published in the spring edition of Arion (issue 127).

All the walks have also been added to our branch page of the Butterfly Conservation website (Events) which has more information regarding parking and facilities as well as links to Google maps. Please click on the link or photo of each walk to find more information.

In a change to previous years, we request that you reserve a place on the walk by contacting the Walk Leader  (details in Arion & on the walk page on BC Events page).

We will try and updated this website and post on Facebook or X (Twitter) with any late changes or cancellations (but in the event the event has to be postponed, the walk leader will attempt to contact all those members that have pre-booked)

Information that applies to all our guided walks

  • There is no charge for the walks. Children and beginners are especially welcome.
  • Butterfly Conservation members from other branch areas are welcome to join us.
  • No dogs please as some of the sites have livestock on them.
  • Except where indicated, all walks start promptly at 11.00 am; please take care to arrive in good time.  They are taken at an easy pace and we aim to finish around 1.00 - 1.30 pm.
  • Many sites include steep, rough or wet ground so stout shoes, boots or wellies are recommended. Please inform the walk leader if you have health problems that might affect you on the walk.
  • Please be aware of the growing risk of Lyme Disease and take appropriate precautions against ticks.
  • If the weather is wet or unseasonably cold and dull, the walk will be cancelled. If you have a query about the walk please phone the Walk Leader.
