Netherclay LNR (and Silk Mills LNR), Taunton

The final guided walk of the season.  This time to Netherclay LNR; probably the best site in Somerset for the Brown Hairstreak butterfly.

After lunch there will be the opportunity to explore Silk Mills LNR where we should find Common Blue, Brown Argus, Small Copper etc.

Target species: Brown Hairstreak, Speckled Wood, Gatekeeper amongst other species.

Directions:  Park & meet at OS Grid ST 207 255 which is the entrance to Silk Mills Park & Ride. (Nearest postcode TA2 6BB)


Information that applies to all our guided walks

There is no charge for the walks. Children and beginners are especially welcome. No dogs please as some of the sites have livestock on them.

Except where indicated, all walks start promptly at 11.00 am; please take care to arrive in good time.  They are taken at an easy pace and end around 1.00 - 1.30 pm. 

Many sites include steep, rough or wet ground so stout shoes, boots or wellies are recommended. Please inform the walk leader if you have health problems that might affect you on the walk.
