Wear stout shoes. While some access paths exist, many areas are steep and uneven with occasional rabbit holes. There are no facilities on site. There are however a number of log seats distributed throughout the site which can be used for picnicking or observation.

Wenthillside is an eleven acre conservation site in West Yorkshire. It is mostly rough, unfarmed grassland with several small areas of trees and scrub. the lower field is destined to be a 3.3 acre wildflower meadow. The south west facing magnesian limestone hillside plays host to a wide variety of species including Marbled White, Purple Hairstreak, Ringlet, Large and Small Skipper, Meadow Brown, Dingy and essex Skipper and Brimstone. A variety of moth species have also been recorded. The site has a good bird population and has recently been replanted with more than 400 hedging plants and trees.

This event is taking place during the Big Butterfly Count, so why not download an ID chart and do a 15-minute count of the butterflies you can see?
