Sandpool farm nature reserve forms part of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's Lower Moor Farm complex of nature reserves. The reserve is a former brown field site and is being restored to a mosaic of habitats including woodland, scrub, ponds, hedges and orchard. The site is particularly managed for its invertebrates.
Target Species: This is a good site for a variety of butterflies including Small Tortoiseshell, Small Copper, Orange-tip and Brimstone. With the site being managed to attract butterflies and situated near to fabulous wildflower meadows other species are always around to look out for.
Location: Meet at the car park for Sandpool farm reserve SU 01141 94244 (OS Explorer 169). what3words: ///sunflower.contoured.breakaway. The car park is accessed from the Oaksey Road which is reached either from the A429 thorugh Oaksey or from the A419 Ashton Keynes turning along the Spine road.
The walk follows a fairly good farm track and path which is fairly level. Be sure to bring robust footwear.
