Wiltshire Members' Day - Chippenham

Wiltshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation invites everyone to join us at our Members’ Day on Saturday 7th October at Biddestone Village Hall near Chippenham.  A friendly social event with some great guest speakers.  Non-members of Butterfly Conservation are welcome.

Guest speaker: Martin Warren: The Secret Life of Butterflies  
Martin Warren is the former Chief Executive of Butterfly Conservation.  His new book ‘Butterflies: A Natural History’ is based on a lifetime of research into what makes these beautiful insects tick.  Combining personal anecdote with the latest discoveries in the scientific literature, Martin will explore their struggle for survival and the significance of managing habitats at a landscape scale. 

Guest Speaker: Patrick Cashman: Habitat creation for butterflies at RSPB Winterbourne Downs
Branch members may be familiar with the butterfly banks at Winterbourne Downs.  Patrick Cashman, RSPB Manager for Wiltshire reserves, will give an update on the work undertaken in recent years and how the butterflies have responded.

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION:  Our annual photography competition is open to everyone who attends the meeting.  Photographs must have been taken in the past year in Wiltshire.  Please email your photo in advance to Andy Stafford [email protected]. Entries can also be accepted on the day – bring a data stick.

SALES & DONATIONS:  A donation on the day towards lunch would be appreciated. Please bring cash to join the raffle or purchase items from the shop.
