Guest speaker: Martin Warren: The New Red List of European Butterflies Gets Redder
Martin Warren is the former Chief Executive of Butterfly Conservation. The talk will present the findings of a new Red List of European Butterflies, the first for 14 years, based on new information from experts across the continent. It will highlight the growing threats to Europe’s butterflies, many of which are found nowhere else on earth.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Sue Clarke: Butterfly Conservation Work in Wiltshire - Grimstead Down
Dr. Sue Clarke is a Lepidoptera specialist who has extensive conservation experience. The presentation will give a brief overview of the Duke of Burgundy and Marsh Fritillary work that the Wiltshire Branch is funding and the reasons why these two target species were prioritised. Then the Duke of Burgundy at Grimstead Down will be shown as an example of how we have been able to provide advice and accurate breeding patch mapping to allow for targeted management.
