Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire assists in the management of this important privately owned site. 24 species of butterfly were recorded here in 2019 and the reappearance of the Duke of Burgundy makes this season's habitat management even more important. The site also hosted some of the highest counts of Dark Green Fritillary (more than 100 observed last year) along with Silver-washed Fritillary which has reappeared after a long absence. We will be carrying our scrub clearance to help to improve the habitat for the Duke of Burgundy.
Directions: From Pickering proceed past the railway station and continue along Undercliffe for 0.7miles. Cross the level crossing and continue along Yatts Road. After 2 miles, Yatts Farm is on the left. To prevent inconconvenience for local residents and traffic, please park on the east road grass verge. We will meet here before proceeding along the public footpath through the farmyard and south west into the valley ensuring that the farm gates are closed behind us.
Please let Sam know if you plan to attend. If the weather is unsuitable he will contact you before 9am.
Be aware the slope is steep.
