    A morning visit to see how winter conservation work has helped Dingy and Grizzled Skippers, Green Hairstreaks and other spring species in the park.  

  • Bison Hill, Whipsnade, Beds

    We will be looking for chalk grassland spring specialist species: Duke of Burgundy, Dingy and Grizzled Skippers and Green Hairstreaks

  • Totternhoe Quarry, Beds

    Sunday 2nd June 2024, 10:00am-2:00pm

    We will visit the Wildlife Trust reserve for Small Blue, Common Blue, Grizzled and Dingy Skippers.

  • Salcey Forest, Northants

    Wednesday 5th June 2024, 10:00am-2:00pm

    We will be primarily looking for Wood White but also hope to see a range of other species such as Speckled Wood, Large Skipper, Holly Blue etc

  • Twywell Hills and Dales, Northants

    Saturday 15th June 2024, 10:00am-2:00pm

    We will walk around Twywell Hills and Dales Nature Reserve to find a range of early summer grassland butterfly species, such as Large Skipper and Marbled White

  • Fineshade Wood, Northants

    Saturday 6th July 2024, 10:30am-12:30pm

    Come along to look for the excellent range of woodland species regularly recorded here: Silver-washed Fritillary, White-letter Hairstreak, Purple Emperor, White Admiral, Purple Hairstreak and Dark Green Fritillary.

  • Pitsford Moth Event

    Sunday 7th July 2024, 9:00am-12:00pm

    Discover the beautiful and fascinating world of UK’s Lepidoptera with David James from the local branch of Butterfly Conservation, Mischa Cross from the Wildlife Trust BCN and local naturalist Fiona Barclay. You will get the chance to empty Pitsford’s moth traps and hopefully see some of the UK’s largest and most beautiful moths. We will then walk around some of Pitsford’s flower meadows in search of butterflies and day flying moths
