The objective is to see Small Skippers, which have only been recorded in this part of the world over the last five years. We should also see Dark Green Fritillaries, which are well established here.

    Join us on a short walk looking for Butterflies along the coastal path from Tentsmuir car park to Tentsmuir Point NNR. Species commonly found include Small Pearl-bordered and Dark Green Fritillaries, Small Copper, Common Blue, Green Hairstreak and Grayling. Day-flying moths are well-represented, with Cinnabar and Six-spot Burnet. Weather permitting a moth trap will be run overnight to be opened at 10:00 before the walk.

    A joint outing with the Edinburgh Natural History Society, to look for pollinators of both the bee/wasp and butterfly type. A bee expert will be on hand to take us through their identification. The Preston Grange site is supposed to be good for Bumblebees in particular. Butterflies that might turn up are Speckled Wood, Small Skipper and Wall.
