Over 80% of the UK's population currently live in urban areas, where access to green spaces and the wildlife within them can be limited. For people living in our towns and cities, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find the time and space to connect with nature and enjoy the increased wellbeing that this brings.
At the same time, more than half of our so-called common and widespread species of butterflies are showing long-term declines.
If we don't act now, many of our most familiar and loved butterflies and moths will become the threatened species of tomorrow.
We urgently need help to discover more about how populations are faring in urban environments and take action to support them, but we can't do this alone.
Big City Butterflies places people at the heart of our efforts to make London’s green spaces better for butterflies and moths. We’ll be working alongside communities across London, sharing our passion and knowledge, and providing training to empower people to take practical action.
Donate today to help reconnect people and nature and inspire them to contribute towards the critical conservation of butterflies and moths.
