Marsh Fritillary

More than 30 threatened species are under our care in Wales but the public funding we have previously relied on to protect them is drying up. Conservation work must continue to stop some of our most vulnerable butterflies and moths disappearing from the Welsh mountains and valleys.

The Marsh Fritillary has suffered massive declines across the UK. In Wales this rare butterfly has lost 71% of its population since 1990. But it could be much worse. Where we have been creating and maintaining habitat for the Marsh Fritillary, butterfly numbers are slowly rising. Despite this glimmer of hope the future for the species is far from secure. Without more funding the vital conservation work we’ve started cannot continue.

Your donation could fight wildlife declines across Wales, protecting species like the Marsh Fritillary, Brown Hairstreak and Silky Wave.

By supporting this project and others like it, your donation will be worth at least twice the amount with match funding.
