Fife and Clackmannanshire Butterfly Maps
These maps cover the 26 species with records from Fife and Clackmannanshire over the last 13 years. The County Records include a full data set for these years. Prior to 2010 the County Records do not include all the data from the UKBMS transects. Further maps with historical data will be added at a later date.
Some of the maps show species which are very rare, such as Camberwell Beauty (1 record since 2010) and Holly Blue (6 records since 2010). Rare but established species within Fife and Clackmannanshire include Large Heath and Purple Hairstreak. Additional species recorded in Fife and Clackmannanshire prior to 2010 include Clouded Yellow (occasional migrant), Brimstone (1 record) and Small Blue (3 records).
The last 12 years has seen the arrival of Speckled Wood, Wall and Small Skipper as they have spread north across the Firth of Forth. Butterfly Recorders are encouraged to use the maps to identify areas for future recording. Please submit all butterfly records for these counties to [email protected]
