Scotland has a wide variety of butterflies. From this page you can find out more about each of the Scottish Butterflies, what they look like, the timing of their lifecycle stage and their Scottish distributions. The distribution maps show the 10km squares where they have been found in three historical periods and so it is possible to get an idea of where their range is expanding or contracting.
There are also more detailed maps for the Fife and Clackmannanshire area.
