This initiative was launched by Scottish Environment LINK in 2013 – the Year of Natural Scotland – and invited all Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) to choose species that they will champion.
All of the species are are affected by one or more human impacts, such as habitat loss, climate change or pollution, and MSP ‘Nature Champions’ are able to learn at first-hand exactly how these issues affect their adopted species from one of the Scottish Environment LINK member organisations. They can then work together to provide a brighter future for these species, spread that knowledge throughout Scotland’s political community and shape policy to promote and secure biodiversity. For more information on the initiative, go to https://www.scotlink.org/link-campaigns/nature-champions/
We are looking forward to working with our MSPs to improve the fortunes of these and our other species.
