Wales
The varied landscapes of Wales are home to 44 species of butterfly and over 1,850 different moths. Most of these are declining in numbers and range due to climate warming and the way the land is managed. Our small staff team are supported by invaluable volunteers who contribute to recording and conserving our threatened species.
Scotland
With vast areas of semi-natural habitat, Scotland is a real haven for butterflies and moths. The small team of staff, with offices in Stirling and Kingussie, work with hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers to keep track of species across the whole landscape.
Northern Ireland
Our staff in Northern Ireland are involved in three different projects to help protect butterflies, moths and pollinators; funded through the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The team work with a range of stakeholders and recorders, ably supported by the BC Northern Ireland Branch.
