Craigavon Lakes is a Local Nature Reserve, owned and managed by Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. Butterfly Conservation have a long-standing involvement on the site due to its significant population of Cryptic Wood White -  a species of butterfly found only in NI in the UK, and across the island of Ireland.

The grassland the species relies on is under increasing threat by encroachment of willow and birch. We hold annual scrub management work parties with our partners ABC Council, and we need volunteers to help with this work. No experience is needed, and full training will be given.

To find out more about joining a volunteer winter work party, please contact our Senior Conservation Officer in NI, Rose Cremin at
